Çorlu Faculty of Engineering was established as affiliated to Trakya University in accordance with Article 10 of Law No. 3837 published in the Official Gazette dated 11.07.1992 and numbered 21281, and started education by taking students to the Environmental and Civil Engineering Departments in the 1993-1994 academic year. Secondary education started in the 1996-1997 academic year, but was terminated in the 1997-1998 academic year due to inadequacies. Our faculty opened Mechanical Engineering in 2003-2004. Especially, with the opening of Namık Kemal University in 2006, there has been a rapid growth in our faculty. In the 2008-2009 period, students were admitted to the Computer, Electronics and Communication and Textile Engineering Departments, while students were also admitted to the Biomedical Engineering Department in the 2009-2010 period. Additionally, Environment, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical and Computer Engineering Departments have opened their secondary education programs. Moreover, our faculty is trying to complete the faculty members who have received the necessary permissions from YÖK for the Industrial and Mechatronics Engineering Departments.
Çorlu is the second largest settlement of the Thrace Region after Istanbul. Due to the geographical location of Çorlu (a bridge between Europe and Asia), it has led especially the industry to flock to this district. It has an important place in the Turkish industry together with Istanbul, Kocaeli and Bursa. Çorlu, which was a quiet district 10 years ago, has now literally taken the appearance of an industrial city. Our faculty aims to meet the need for qualified engineers in the region and surrounding provinces, especially in Çorlu district, to produce scientific solutions to the problems of industry and public institutions in the region, to promote its research results and scientific potential at environmental, national and international levels through various activities.
